Today see’s the launch of the first in a set of three 7″ singles that will feature the U.K. Subs’ three superb John Peel sessions which the band recorded from 1978 to 1979.
These magnificent and stunningly designed singles will be available in a choice of two different colours, strictly limited to 250 copies of each, with this initial release being on yellow vinyl and white vinyl.
The first John Peel session, featuring the Harper / Garratt / Slack / Davies line-up, was recorded at the BBC Maida Vale studios on 23 May 1978 and first broadcast on the John Peel show 8 days later, comprising five classic Subs tracks: ‘I Couldn’t Be You’, ‘Tomorrow’s Girls’, ‘Disease’, ‘C.I.D.’ and ‘Stranglehold’.
Each release comes with a full colour heavy-duty card gatefold sleeve, boasting previously unpublished photos of the band by Virginia Turbett, as well as exclusive comprehensive liner note essays from the U.K. Subs ‘Time & Matter’ website editors Mark Chadderton and Rob Cook, the first of which is by the former, entitled ‘Background: Recorded 77-78′.
Volume 2 is set to be released in December with the final Volume 3 scheduled for a January 2016 release date as yet to be confirmed.
