PENETRATION - Featured Artitst
REBELLION LONDON 2008 features PENETRATION supporting THE DAMNED at The Forum, London on December 13th. (info / ticket details www.rebellionfestivals.com)
PENETRATION are also joined by Captain Oi bands: UK SUBS, 999, THE YOBS and GOLDBLADE, making this a MUST SEE pre Christmas Bash.
Hailing from Durham
and sporting the iconic female punk singer Pauline Murray, PENETRATION were one
of Punks most identifiable bands. Murray’s vocals are distinctive, unique and
this originality has influenced a host of female singers since.
After a
support slot for Generation X at the infamous Roxy Club, they secured a deal
with Virgin Records. This saw the release of the ’77 punk classic “Don’t
Dictate” 7” single.
On the day
that Sid Vicious was charged with second degree murder and the original punk
spirit had turned into a circus, PENETRATION released their debut album “Moving
Targets”. The sound and the songs had already moved on and the album was a
breath of fresh air for the punk scene. The following year (1979) “Coming Up
for Air” was released. This proved to be an innovative album and one of the
forerunners to what was to become ‘New Wave’.
We are proud
to have released these albums on Captain Oi! - “Moving Targets” contains full
lyrics and sleeve notes by Alex Ogg and Pauline Murray whilst “Coming Up for
Air” has sleeve notes from the CAPTAIN himself and the booklet folds out to a
poster. Quality releases from a quality band.
Do
yourselves a favour and make sure your collection has these albums in it!
Their
website www.loversofoutrage.co.uk
contains a run down of their history, discography, pictures etc. There's also a
load of original 1977 newspaper clippings and bits n pieces too!
