MADNESS VINYL from Captain Mod - 04/08/2010

For some while now we haven’t stocked any other labels releases, preferring to concentrate on the 250 plus that we have of our own. However, a new label called SIZE 12 RECORDS, have just issued some brilliant releases by MADNESS on vinyl – not any old vinyl but DELUXE, DOUBLE, GATEFOLD 10” VINYL. Yep, they really do look the dogs doo dahs and should be added to all serious collectors of UK Ska. Captain Mod has managed to secure some copies of the three releases – “ONE STEP BEYOND”, “ABSOLUTELY” and “SEVEN” – and can highly recommend a quick purchase of these soon to be highly prized collectors items. Each album has the original LP across the first three sides whilst side 4 contains relevant bonus cuts – the artwork is brilliant and contains lyric inserts alongside the two inner bags which feature stacks of memorabilia from the era and a gatefold centre spread that has great repros of all relevant foreign singles sleeves. We really can’t emphasise how great these releases look and sound. One day all re-issues will look and sound as good as these.

Cock Sparrer Featuring Dan Hady - England Belongs To Me - 09/03/2010

Cock Sparrer have been back in the studio and Re-recorded ENGLAND BELONGS TO ME. We're not normally a fan of re-records here at Oi HQ as bands very rarely better the original. But dare we say it that Sparrer have suprised us all once again by producing a version which has more energy than a factory of Red Bull!

The reason for the re-record is that British UFC fighter Dan "THE OUTLAW" Hardy (
www.danhardymma.com) uses the song as his intro music to the ring (octagon). The boys invited Dan down to the recording and he provided the opening Oi Oi's and sang backing vocals. Thankfully he was a top bloke and actually a very decent singer as no-one fancied telling someone who's day job is fighting, that his vocals weren't good enough!!
